Quality Indicators of Care
Public reporting of hospital clinical outcomes offers patients access to important information about the quality of care provided in hospitals so they can make well-informed decisions about their medical care. As an organization entrusted with providing healthcare in the community, we feel strongly that it is our utmost responsibility to ensure the safety of those we care for and the quality of care we provide.
Performance indicators are used to measure quality provided in pneumonia care, heart attack care and congestive heart failure care.
The data below shows the percentages of patients who received endorsed medical interventions at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital between January 2009 and December 2009, as compared to state and national averages during 2009. Heart Attack or Chest Pain Process of Care Measures
A heart attack (also called AMI or acute myocardial infarction) happens when the arteries, leading to the heart become blocked, and the blood supply is slowed or stopped. These statistics show some of the processes of care provided, if appropriate, for most adults, who have had heart attacks. The outpatient Heart Attack or Chest Pain measures apply to patients transferred to an acute care facility for a higher level of care.
