ELMHURST— Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare (EMHC) has entered into a management agreement with Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital to oversee its current rehabilitation services. This partnership brings together two world-class organizations, enhancing the superior care offered by EMHC with Marianjoy’s 35 years of expertise in physical medicine and rehabilitation with an emphasis on inpatient, outpatient and subacute settings.

Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital will be managing a 38-bed transitional care unit located in Elmhurst Memorial Hospital (EMH). In addition, Marianjoy also will manage rehabilitation services at four outpatient sites including three facilities in Elmhurst and one in Lombard. EMH rehabilitation staff, including those from the departments of physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy, will continue to provide care within the rehabilitation unit. Vasilios Stambolis, M.D., a senior Marianjoy physiatrist and a member of the EMH Medical Staff, has been named Medical Director of Rehabilitation Services and will provide medical leadership as part of the EMHC rehabilitation program.

According to Leo Fronza, President and CEO of EMHC, “Marianjoy is well-known for its commitment to excellence in rehabilitation, research and teaching throughout Chicago and neighboring communities.
