ELMHURST— The Elmhurst Memorial Hospital (EMH) Guild and Volunteer Services recently held their annual Rose Luncheon in honor of the many volunteers and Guild members who serve the Hospital and health system. During the past year, volunteers donated over 58,100 hours of their time to Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare (EMHC). They served in various departments and locations throughout the health system and also participated in community outreach and special events.

“Our volunteers are wonderful,” said Lora Vega, Director of Volunteer Services, EMHC. "Every day their contributions make a difference in the lives of our patients, their families and our staff."

At the Rose Luncheon, the EMH Guild provided five teen volunteers with a total of $10,000 in scholarships. Scholarships are awarded to teen volunteers who have donated their time and energy to a variety of services within EMHC; have completed over 160 hours of service; intend to pursue a health-related career; and meet the necessary academic requirements.

Recipients of this year’s EMH Guild scholarships are:

  • Victoria Rogas, of Wood Dale, attends Driscoll Catholic High School
  • Catherine Berkemeyer, of Elmhurst, attends Fenwick High School
  • Dan Neubauer, of Elmhurst, attends York High School
  • Sara Lennon, of Elmhurst, attends Meadowview Academy
  • Stephanie Mackso, of Addison, attends Fenton High School

At the conclusion of the Luncheon, the Guild presented their annual gift to EMHC, which this year totaled $337,000.
