Elmhurst community invited to take part in Edward Weight Loss Challenge

Edward Hospital has expanded its Community Weight Loss Challenge and is inviting residents of Elmhurst and surrounding communities to take part in a competition to see who can lose the greatest percentage of weight.  Individuals or teams can enter the free 8-week online challenge, which begins Monday, February 3, 2014 and runs through March 31, 2014.

Weight will be self-reported weekly by participants. Percent of weight loss is averaged across the team (team size can range from 1-12 people) and is based on weight at the start of the challenge. Weight can be recorded online, via text or smart phone (via the Extracon App).  Fitness prize packages valued between $25-$50 will be awarded to the top two teams and prize drawings will take place throughout the challenge.

Registration is open and free at www.edward.org/healthchallenges.  Following registration, click the “Enroll in a Challenge” button and select “Edward Community Weight Loss Challenge” to get started.

In addition, a Weight Loss Challenge Kick-Off Open House will be held onThursday, January 30, 5-7 p.m. at Edward Health & Fitness Center at Seven Bridges, 6600 S. Route 53 in Woodridge.  The event will feature the latest fitness options, nutrition information and stress management techniques from Edward experts.  The first 100 participants will receive a mini fitness kit.  All attendees will receive a fast food nutrition guide and weight loss resource guide, and will be eligible for a $50 enrollment special and 14-day trial pass to the Edward Health & Fitness Centers.  Calling (630) 527-6363 to RSVP.  Attendance at the event is not required to take part in the Weight Loss Challenge.
