ELMHURST – Elmhurst Memorial Hospital (EMH) now makes it easy for patients to determine how long it will take for treatment to begin in the Emergency Department. The Emergency Department wait times are now available online at www.emhc.org/edtimes. Patients can also access the wait times from a mobile device by texting “EMHTIME” to 69302.
The Emergency Department wait time calculations are based on the time a patient checks-in to the time they are placed in a room and treatment begins. Times are updated every 15 minutes to provide a real-time sense of what can be expected before visiting the Emergency Department; however, it can vary due to a number of circumstances. Patients who arrive at the Emergency Department with life-threatening injuries are treated immediately upon arrival, which may impact the wait time estimates.
EMH’s Emergency Department is a Level II Trauma Center staffed by board-certified emergency medicine physicians and nurses who are specially trained in cardiac life support and are prepared to quickly and effectively treat all types of emergencies.
The unique layout of the Emergency Department takes privacy and convenience to a new level by offering individual rooms instead of typical curtain-separated bays. Each room is fully private and furnished with amenities such as a restroom and flat screen TVs. The department is segmented into pods with decentralized nurses’ stations to ensure caregivers — as well as the supplies and equipment they need — are just steps away from patients.
