Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare now accepting applications for Nurse Residency Program

ELMHURST – Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare (EMHC) is now accepting applications for its Nurse Residency Program. Applications will be accepted through July 2 with the program set to begin on Sept. 17.

EMHC’s Nurse Residency Program supports the graduate nurse to make a successful transition to competent practice by providing a safe, nurturing, learning environment during the first year of practice.

The one-year program consists of two phases. The first is 16 weeks long and includes of 24-36 hours of rotating clinical orientation in Oncology, Surgical, Medical and Cardiovascular services. It includes 8-16 hours of classroom instruction.

In the second phase, nurse residents are assigned a permanent unit. Classroom activity continues at four hours a month with critical thinking and professional accountability threaded throughout the curriculum. The program culminates with the completion of evidence-based projects.
