You Can Make The Season Bright for Children at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital
ELMHURST— The holidays just got a little brighter today for children at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital (EMH) as dozens of toys, games and books were donated by Kick Off for Kids, a non-profit organization working to enrich the lives of all children in Elmhurst and surrounding communities through family-centered programs.
Mike La Spisa, co-founder of Kick off For Kids, arrived with the toys Tuesday morning to support the Elmhurst Memorial Hospital Guild’s 36th Annual Reindeer Route Housewalk, which takes place on Friday, Dec. 7, from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Hosted by the Elmhurst Junior Unit of the Guild, the Reindeer Route Housewalk gives attendees a rare opportunity to tour several Elmhurst homes, beautifully decorated for the holidays by local florists. All attendees are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy for EMH’s youngest patients in our emergency and pediatric departments so they, too, can enjoy this holiday season. Toys will be collected at all the following featured homes on the day of the Housewalk:

“Children look forward to the holidays all year, but sometimes that holiday can’t be spent at home.” said Lucette Gregory, assistant manager of Pediatrics at EMH. “Providing the highest level of care is just as important as making our patients and their family feel comfortable during their stay. The toy donations that come from this event make holidays in hospital feel more like home.”
Tickets cost $25 and can be purchased in advance at the following locations: The Pink Elephant Resale Shop, the Wild Rose Floral & Gift Shop at the Elmhurst Memorial Hospital Main Campus, Carousel Flowers in Elmhurst, Philip’s Flowers & Gifts in Elmhurst, the Uptown Shop in Elmhurst, Red E. Boutique in Elmhurst, and Salon Efthimia in Elmhurst.
Tickets can also be purchased in advance by calling Tracey Lupa at (630) 292-1812. On the day of the walk, tickets will be available for purchase for $30 at any of the featured homes.
