Pre-operative Testing
As early as two to three weeks before your surgery, you will be contacted by a registered nurse from our Pre-admission Testing/Ambulatory Surgery department. The nurse will ask questions about your health history and arrange an appointment for your pre-operative testing. The nurse will give you information and answer questions.
What tests will I need?
Your surgeon may order blood or urine testing, X-rays, an electrocardiogram (ECG) or other tests. Your anesthesiologist may require additional testing, depending on your health history. In addition to the tests, you will be given pre-operative surgery instructions and have an opportunity to ask questions.
Where will my testing be done?
Depending on your insurance, your testing may be performed at your attending physician’s office or at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.
When can I have my testing at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital?
Our Pre-admission Testing department has appointments starting at 7 a.m. through 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. A pre-admission nurse will contact you to make an appointment. For information about your testing appointment, you may call 630-833-1400, Ext. 41068.
