Visiting Hours
Elmhurst Memorial Hospital recognizes that interaction with visitors is an important part of your care. Our visitor policy is intended to provide visitors with as much access as possible while ensuring that you have enough quiet time in which to rest.
General visiting information
Visiting hours are between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m., with exceptions when necessary. Some units have special hours as shown below. Visitors should check with the patient’s nurse for special restrictions.
Each patient is allowed two visitors at a time. Children under the age of 12 are not permitted to visit patients unless special arrangements are made in advance with the nursing staff. We ask that visitors remain on the unit they are visiting and not enter other units or patient rooms. Visitors are welcome to access public areas on the first floor of the Hospital such as the Gift Shop, cafeteria and Pharmacy during regular operating hours.
If an immediate family member/caregiver wishes to stay beyond 8 p.m., they should request approval from the patient’s nurse. The nurse will provide the visitor with a temporary visitor pass, which must be worn at all times while in the Hospital.
Visitors who arrive at the Hospital after 8 p.m. for routine visits will not be able to visit unless arrangements have been made with the nursing unit ahead of time. To make arrangements for adults to visit after 8 p.m., the patient should give the nursing staff the name of the person who will be visiting and information on why the exception is requested. The unit will then notify the Safety and Protection department of the visitor in advance. These visitors must obtain a temporary visitor pass from the Safety and Protection department located in the Emergency Department prior to visiting the unit. Passes will be issued only to those whose names are on the list provided in advance.
Because the health and well-being of our patients is our primary focus, visitors may sometimes be asked by the patient’s nurse to leave a patient’s room.
