Visitor Information: Visiting Hours

Elmhurst Memorial Hospital believes that family and friends are important to your comfort, healing and recovery. In order to facilitate this support, our patients' families are welcome to visit at any time.

General Visiting Information

Visitor preferences are directed by each patient, but in order to provide time for rest and out of respect for other patients, we ask that you follow these guidelines. Recommended visiting hours are between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Special considerations are needed in some areas to protect the safety of our patients and guests. Visitors should check with the patient’s nurse for special restrictions.

  • For patients who are in semi-private rooms, we recommend limiting visitors to two per patient.
  • Family members and guests who are not completely healthy or have been exposed to a communicable disease should postpone visiting until symptoms subside.
  • Children who are at least six years old and do not show signs or symptoms of illness may visit when in the supervision of a responsible adult. Younger children may visit when arrangements are made with the nursing staff and the patient prior to the visit.
  • Visiting is limited to the patient's room, but guests are welcome to use the amenities on the first floor, such as the cafeteria.
  • The Hospital's main entrance will be locked at 9 p.m. Guests who arrive after 9 p.m. will need to enter through the Emergency Department and receive a temporary visitor pass from security staff.
  • If a guest wishes to stay beyond 9 p.m., he or she should request approval from the patient’s nurse. The nurse will provide the guest with a temporary visitor pass, which must be worn at all times while in the Hospital.
