Clinical Trials

People who participate in clinical trials can benefit from:

  • More treatment options
  • Helping others with the same condition by contributing to cancer research
  • Having access to treatment that is not otherwise available, which might be safer or more effective than current treatment options
  • Feeling that you have more control over your situation and are taking a more active role in your health care

Most studies that we offer are Phase III clinical trials, which compares the safety and effectiveness of the new treatment against the current standard treatment. And while some people may think of clinical trials as a last resort, many studies are geared toward first-line treatment. Elmhurst Memorial Hospital is a member of Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) and the American College of Radiology Imaging Network (ACRIN).

A nurse is always available to assist you through every step, from informed consent, to treatment, to follow-up appointments.
