Center for Pain Management
When you feel pain, it's hard to think about anything else. The first step to managing the pain is a diagnostic evaluation by a board-certified anesthesiologist to determine its cause and the best course of treatment. Once that's done, you'll work with a multi-disciplinary team trained in the most advanced healing techniques (physical and psychological therapies, relaxation treatments and medications).
Through a variety of new pain management techniques, such as spinal cord stimulation and implantable pain medication pumps, we can relieve — and even eliminate — pain.
Clinical Pastoral Education
We are accredited by the National Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) for the training of hospital chaplains. The program, which offers opportunities for concentrations in five different areas — Cardiac, Crisis Care, Behavioral Health, Transitional Care and Hospice — begins in September and runs through the end of August each year.
Participants will receive a number of benefits, including:
- a $25,000 stipend
- Low-cost tuition ($200 per quarter for CPE Level II)
- Individual and family health insurance available
- 28 days of personal time off
- Free TB and titer testing
- Free parking
- For more information, or to apply, please contact Dean Hokel, CPE Supervisor, at (630) 833-1400, Ext. 44968 or Dhokel@emhc.org.

The environment is welcoming. The staff is engaging. The experience is beyond your expectations. We accept all major insurance policies and perform a broad range of surgeries.

Gastroenterology
If you're having digestive problems, get the care you deserve. The earlier you treat your condition, the better the results. Whatever your specific needs might be, our endoscopy team collaborates closely with you and your physician.
We remain at the forefront of technological advancements, using procedures such as small bowel capsule endoscopy to diagnose and treat gastrointestinal conditions. The procedure allows our skilled staff to noninvasively evaluate suspected diseases in the small intestine. During the procedure, a vitamin pill-sized capsule equipped with its own camera and light source is ingested. While the video capsule passes through the digestive tract, images are transmitted to a data recorder.

Neurosurgery
We have partnered with the Chicago Institute of Neurosurgery and Neuroresearch (CINN), the region's leader in the treatment of brain tumors and spinal disorders, to offer the safest, most advanced care. Our unique regimen of rehabilitation therapy, exercise and education can often successfully treat the majority of spinal disorders without surgery. We also are one of the few facilities worldwide with two stereotactic radiosurgery systems. With these revolutionary systems, we can treat patients with brain disorders without making a single incision.
If surgery is necessary, minimally invasive treatments are used whenever possible. An example is the breakthrough spinal fusion procedures perfected by CINN's team of specialists. Used to treat traumatic spine injuries and degenerative disc disease, this approach is safer and less painful than traditional spinal fusions.
