Scope of Services
Prevention and Wellness
We often say, “Prevention is where it’s at.” In fact, research shows that up to one-third of all breast cancers may be prevented when women combine lifestyle modifications and prevention strategies. Because we emphasize screening and early detection — when breast cancer is most treatable — 84 percent of all breast cancers diagnosed at the Breast Health Center in 2011 were discovered at an early stage, ahead of the national average of 81 percent.

Diagnosis and Treatment
If you and your physician determine that you need additional procedures to see if breast cancer is present, take comfort in knowing that we offer a full spectrum of minimally invasive procedures, including ultrasound-guided biopsy, stereotactic image-guided biopsy and MRI-guided biopsy.
Breast Care Team
At Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare, we believe that multidisciplinary care is important to successful treatment, which is why you and your loved ones are guided through an individualized journey every step of the way.
We believe in treating not only the body, but also the mind and soul. We offer acupuncture, where needles are inserted at certain body points to help control pain, discomfort and other symptoms, and Reiki therapy, which moves the body’s energies back toward balance. Both complementary therapies are part of our holistic approach to patient wellness.
Patients can volunteer for research through clinical trials. The Breast Health Center partners with Northwestern Memorial Hospital and is a member of the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) to offer patients the opportunity to participate in clinical trials.
